The Celtics are in on Giannis and would trade Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics are in on Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to Bill Simmons from the ringer, the Celtics have already made an offer for Giannis. He confirmed his initial report, reiterating that the Celtics are indeed interested but he did not reveal who was in the trade. Now as a fan, you have to suspect that Jaylen Brown is in the deal, as no other player from the Celtics could generate as significant of a return in a three team trade.

Gary Washburn from the Boston Globe reported last night and doubled down this morning that the Celtics are not "dangling" Jaylen Brown. Gary is here to throw some water on the Celtics rumors and to placate a ferverous fanbase. Gary is inadvertantly (assuming) helping the Celtics organization by trying to let the public know that the Celtics organization still likes Jaylen Brown. This is an extremely delicate road to tread, as each new Brown trade rumor is bound to upset the former finals MVP.

Despite the report from Gary Wahburn, the Celtics are willing to part ways with Jaylen Brown to acquire the former NBA MVP. Multiple teams have interest in Jaylen Brown and he would benefit from a change personally, as he can be the centerpiece of a new franchise. It is doubtful that the Celtics would be able to acquire Giannis without trading Jaylen Brown, and it seems that they are in preemptive damage control before the trade even goes through.
