Rip it down to the studs.

The Boston Red Sox are bad. Like, really bad. They have now reached a season low of 14 games below .500 at 29-43.

This was the season they were supposed to compete for the World Series. The organization was supposed to be back on track! They had a bunch of great young players, mixed with some veteran pitchers. They were supposed to load back up on hitting during the offseason and bang! Off they go.

But somehow something went wrong. Basically, none of the young players developed. Roman Anthony, supposed to be the face of the franchise, played terribly before suffering a large tear at the CMC joint of his 4th digit. Suddenly he can't swing a bat. "Just wait 10-12 days," they said. Sam Kennedy reassured the fanbase that it wasn't even a tear! (A sprain and a tear mean the same thing.) Now here we are many weeks later, and Roman Anthony still can't swing a bat.

Kristian Campbell was sent back down to Triple-A last season to find his rhythm again. To this point, he is hitting in the low .200s in AAA and shows no signs of breaking out of his slump or returning to the big league club.

Marcelo Mayer can't hit. Don't need to add more to that.

Brayan Bello was also optioned down to AAA after not being able to start a game, as a starter. He was great with an opener, but then by definition, that makes him not a starter.

Breslow made some good additions in the offseason of Wilson Contreras, Sonny Gray, and Ranger Suarez, so credit to him there. But he has somehow assembled the worst starting lineup in recent memory. They are second to last in the MLB in home runs and are last in the MLB in runs scored. They have forgotten how to win baseball games. Or, in the mighty words of Tony Massarotti, they're "losers."

Not only are they not performing on the field, they lack any star appeal for the fanbase. All the young players who were supposed to be marketable basically suck. It feels bleak.

The Red Sox attempted to reduce payroll and operate the franchise like the big brother of the Tampa Bay Rays. The problem is, they're bad at it, and the team blows.

At this point for me, anything is on the table. Firing Craig Breslow. Firing Sam Kennedy. Selling all assets. I'm down for all of it. You get the feeling that something is imminent, and they're going to be tear this thing down to the studs.
