RB Myles Montgomery (UCF)

5’11 205lbs # 39

The highest paid UDFA signed by the Patriots entering 2026 training camp. A captain for the University of Central Florida his senior year, where he had his best season with 705 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns off 143 attempts, 182 receiving yards off 17 catches. Myles finished his college career with 254 rushes for 1546 yards 11 rushing touchdowns, and 26 receptions for 257 yards and a touchdown. At his Pro Day, he ran a 4.46 40 time. Myles is a do-it-all caliber running back. He’s used to splitting the backfield and carving a role for himself, something he managed to do it his entire college career dating back to Cincinnati University before transferring to UCF in 2024. On tape, you notice traits that can help him succeed at the next level. Good size and frame, manages contact balance well able to shed tackles while staying upright, excellent short-area explosiveness to take it up the middle, and proved last season he can handle being a reliable check-down option in a receiving role.

In terms of his personal life and his story, not much is out there for Myles. Played at Fletcher High School in Neptune Florida, where he had a dominant high school career with numerous accomplishments. Rushing for over 4000 yards with 2127 yards and 20 touchdowns his junior year, he earned the 2019 Florida Times-Union Offensive Player of the Year. Digging up his interviews from high school, he was all ball and never discussed his personal or family life, wanted to keep the focus on football. At the age of 17 closing his senior year of high school you could tell he was poised had maturity, he saw the bigger picture of what it means to be on a team. To be a leader, talking about his teammates and holding each other accountable, picking each other up after a bad drive and working together to clean up for the next chance they step on the field. He loved that his teammates would come to him for advice and using that as motivation to work harder and inspire those around him. When asked about him and making a name for himself his senior year he was quick to pivot and put his teammates before himself in his answers. That applied throughout almost all of his interviews at UCF, it’s all about the team, putting the team first, and doing his part to be a contributor for the overall success of the team. He was a 3-star recruit post-high school committing to Cincinnati where he managed to contribute out of the backfield early on, before transferring to UCF not far from home. He has stated an interest in becoming a sheriff after his playing career, which is his other dream job, helping protect and serve his community.

He’s going to be competing for that RB3 role which is wide open. Competing with Terrell Jennings, fellow rookie and 7th-rounder Jam Miller, and last year's UDFA darling Lan Larison returning from missing the year due to injury after an impressive showing in the preseason. If he were to make the roster I see him taking on a receiving back role, his ability after the catch, his reliable hands, and quick burst could really help Drake Maye in 3rd down situations and keep a safety valve on hand. You could give him opportunities on special teams as a returner and with his vision I could see that being a beneficial tool on returns. Based on his collegiate production I’ll say he offers a variety of ways he can help this team, but where I could see success is being a weapon in the passing game and contributing behind the likes of Rhamondre and TreVeyon in situational roles.

Best of Luck, Myles!
