Brian Windhorst was originally very hesitant and said multiple times that he wasn’t sure if Jaylen Brown was actually available for trade this offseason. This morning Windhorst reported that, “Jaylen Brown is on the table.” in reference to a Giannis trade.

Considering the complete flip in Windy’s reporting as we’re less than 48 hours from the draft helps signify the legitimacy in the Celtics at least being a finalist in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.

Shams Charania also reported, “A trade and a resolution is coming for the Milwaukee Bucks with Giannis Antetokounmpo before the NBA draft … I do want to make this clear though, whichever deal occurs … it is going to be a one to one deal.”

With Tyler Herro being on an expiring contract and Shams reporting that a trade wouldn’t involve a third team this lowers the value in any potential Miami offer for Giannis. And with Jaylen Brown being on the table, the Celtics have more value to offer the Bucks in a potential deal for Giannis. It was more of a question in, do the Bucks want Jaylen Brown? If Jaylen Brown is on the table and there isn’t a third team involved then that means the Bucks would want to keep Brown, or at least long enough to potentially flip him later down the road for more assets.

With taking all of this into account, this makes the Celtics the arguable favorites to acquire the 2 time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo within the near future.

There have also been reports that have suggested that whatever team does trade for Giannis will have to possibly take on one of Turner, Kuzma, or Portis Jr’s contract.
